Preloading images in flash

I can get a preloader to work fine in flash, and preload the whole movie, but if ive got like an image gallery, the initial load would take forever.

So how would i go about clicking a thumbnail and having a preloader pop up just to load the big image? I dontg et how this would happen since all preloaders seem to load the entire file theyre in.

Any help = much appreciated
