Flash and Browser Compatibility

Which versions of browsers support different versions of Flash?

I was wondering if anyone had any information on browsers (Netscape, FF, IE, Camino, AOL, etc) and the compatibility they have with different versions of Flash. I'm looking for browser version vs. Flash version numbers and I have not been able to find anything helpful. I know that some browsers come with different plug-ins and such and you can download plug-ins, but what version, of what browser, supports what version of Flash files standard? Any help would be most appreciated.

Thank you,

Welcome to the forums, Lane. :)

There are Flash Player plugins for most browsers and platforms - the vast majority of alternative browsers such as Firefox, Camino, etc. can use the "Netscape-compatible" plugin architecture.

These two pages will give you a good idea:

Basically, the latest (version 7) is available for Netscape 4.7 and 7+ (not 6.x), Mozilla 1.2+/Firefox and IE5+ on Windows. Obscure platforms like OS/2 or SGI IRIX only have access to older versions of the player.
