Hey - I'm relatively new to flash. I did try searching back through the pages for similar entries but found nothing. Please forgive me if this is duplicated.

I have customer asking me to create a flash into of using an (old) fountain pen to scribble/write text out character by character in a specified font. I'm considering frame-by-frame animation, but how do you get the grapic (pen) to trace and leave the letters as it "writes"?

Thanks in advance for help and/or links to how to's, etc!

you need an image of the pent start with then either use the flash drawing api to create the text or just do an animated mask set to reveal the text in sync with the pen movements.

Thanks Richard_N - But I don't want it tracing my (horrible mouse control) movements, but the actual script font... is that possible?

yes but you will need to use a msk effect revealing the text to simulate writing
