What about large movies as banners?

I visited a site today that had beautiful image after beautiful image fading in and out in the page banner - I was waiting for the cycle to end and start repeating, but they just kept coming. So I was thinking,I've got a site where I have 3 or 4 images doing the same thing, but if I put in 10 or 15, would that create a delay while the .swf file uploaded? How did the other site do it?

Cheers,

I'm no flash expert but have managed others who've done the work. This shouldn't be a prob at all if you create the flash movie properly.

the SWF streams in; ie it will start playing before the whole movie is loaded. As frame 1-10 are being played, frames 11-20 are being loaded.

You could make a fading slide show with 100s of images, and never notice a glitch in performance.

In Flash, test the movie (Ctrl-Enter), and
enable the bandwidth profiler (Ctrl-B). Go to View > Download Settings and choose 14.4 - for the slowest connections out there. Teh graph shows if your movie will load faster than it plays. Ideally your graph should not go above the red line.
