Hey ya'll,

For some reason this .swf won't load in IE. It works fine in FireFox and Netscape, but for some reason all I see is a blank white box in IE. Here is the code.

<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="c.swf?path=uits.swf" width="360" height="216">
<param name="uits" value="c.swf?path=uits.swf" />
<img src="noflash.gif" width="360" height="216" alt="" />
</object>

I'm really drawing a blank. Any input would really help out a lot. thanks so much. -Buki

Hi buclong, Welcome to WebmasterWorld!

You may want to read this recent thread [webmasterworld.com] with some good help that probably applies to your situation.

If the embed and param doesn't help, then post back here and we'll see what else we can suggest. :)

Hey everyone,
I took a look at some other ideas that were suggested to me...I applied the changes...before it was

<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="c.swf?path=uits.swf" width="360" height="216">
<param name="uits" value="c.swf?path=uits.swf" />
<img src="noflash.gif" width="360" height="216" alt="" />
</object>

I've made some changes and added the embed element. It still isn't working in IE. I don't know if I'm making a syntax error or what...but it's not working.

This is what I have now...

<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="c.swf?path=uits.swf" width="360" height="216">
<param name="uits" value="c.swf?path=uits.swf" /><embed src="uits.swf" width="360" height="216" name="uits"
type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"></embed>
</object>

Any input is really appreciated...

Thanks again,

-Buki

The code you posted has a different URL in the embed as compared to the param and the param is named "uits" instead of "movie". Try this code and see if it works:

<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="c.swf?path=uits.swf" width="360" height="216">
<param name="movie" value="c.swf?path=uits.swf" />
<embed src="c.swf?path=uits.swf"
width="360" height="216" name="uits" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"></embed>
</object>

I think this should work for you. :)

Hello zynk, welcome to WebmasterWorld!

You've got the same issue described above, mismatched param/embed URL's:

<param name="movie" value="flash/main1.swf">
is different than
<embed src="flash/main.swf" quality="high" ...

They both need to point to the same file. :)

Zynk, I'm not sure exactly what in your code is making it not work in Explorer. I can say for sure that there are some syntax errors.You have multiple params with empty and malformed values.

For example:
<param name="FlashVars" value>

Should at least read:
<param name="FlashVars" value="">

Or it should just be deleted if it's empty anyways, right? Perhaps Explorer is choking on these. Also, you would be well served to empty your cache, clear your history, etc. to ensure that you aren't just pulling up the old code instead of the new code.

You've got those mismatched URLs again:

<param name="movie" value="flash/main1.swf">
<embed src="flash/main.swf"

That code looks good though, other than that. No reason why it shouldn't work... Have you tried testing on a different machine?
