Hi, didn't know how to best describe this but when my flash files are on a webpage, before they load they are white and it looks daft against the rest of the gfx. I have the background of the flash file set as the same as the webpage bg but it doesn't make a difference.

How do I get rid of the white while the movie loads? only its like a white flash when the web page opens. There are no blank frames either.

I can remember doing it ages ago and it being something simple but I've now completely forgot.

thanx.fest

You have to create a preloader. Best way is to make a little animation of the word "loading" flashing or something over 5 frames or so. Make it the first scene in your movie and get it to load the second when loading has finished. This scene will be tiny in size and should load in a second, that way your viewers will see it instead of the blank area, and of course make that background match your page.

Simlpe.

If you do not have a big enough scene (kb wise) that it requires a pre-loader, just do this:
1. Insert a scene BEFORE the one you have now.
2. Put nothing in it, but use the same background as the MAIN scene.

see how simple that is?

THEORY:
The page loads the first scene (BLANK) of the flash movie since it is so small and has nothing in it...then it sits still waiting for the next scene (MAIN) to load before moving on. So to the visitor, rather than getting the white "it's loading" box, they just the background.

Hope this helps!

Tried the entering a blank scene and I am still getting the flash of white appear before it :-/

Will add a preloader now to see if that stops it.

You can specify a background color either with this path:
Modify menu > Document... > Background color: Click the white square

Or use:
Window menu > Properties > With nothing selected, click the Background color: white square

A preloader is fancier but at least you can get away from the white square with this. Good luck! :)

Nevermind, I just re-read the first post and realized you already did this. Just ignore me...

If you're saying that there is a quick flash of white before the blank screen that warp9media suggested? Then that "flash" is the time it takes for that blank screen to load and is unaviodable to my knowledge. If it still remains white before the major part of your movie loads, then warp9media's method isn't working. The preloader will work but there will probably be a second of white before that loads (unless it's at the bottom of your page cos that will take longer). Can you sticky me the url so I can see what you mean?
