I'm currently working on a project that requires me to export a flash movie out as a flash 3 movie. However I'm using MX so a heap of features are completely useless to me.

Now I was trained in 3 & 4 about 3 years ago but its all a bit of a blur now as I havent used it since & to confuse things MX has a different look and nothing seems familiar.

What I have is a panel sliding in from off the screen and then back after a button is clicked. I need to pass a varible while the menu scrolls off so I can get it to change to the correct scene ( depending which button is choosen ).

I know how to change scene with a button click but having the exiting animation has complicated things.

How do I declare this varible, and how do I pass it?

Thanks for any help.

I think 3 had a way to create a variable, but I am not sure. Flash started basic scripting in 4. 3 may have had some very basic features, but I don't know. I think macromedia has the old Flash 3 documents on their site. You may want to have a look there.
