I have a problem I need to rotate dynamic text; the dynamic text field is empty except for that it uses a variable to load some words into it.

You might be able to fake the rotation depending on what text is entered into the field. If you already have some text and that it rotates first, you could animate a separate mivie clip, make it stop, then replace with the dynamic text field. If you want to animate the contents within the text field after a user has entered some text, it might be more difficult - better off using another technology.

Sorry I figured it out. see with dynamic and input text fields under "properties" and then the "character menu" you have to select "all characters" in order to rotate.

Ok, so you didn't want to create an animation with rotating dynamic text? Ok. You just wanted to position the text differently.
