just a quick answer needed please

Hi everyone. I am new to designing. The last person who did this could not grasp wat i wanted done so i have taken up the task myself, so trying to learn this seemingly complicated program Flash.

My question is that whenyou are exporting an image(in my case our logo.) from fireworks mx. You get an option to copy it or export it as a SWF. What is that? Also I have gathered that the more exports you have the bigger your movie will be. Is there anyway of optimising your images to make them smaller in the movie?

swf = shockwave flash

this is the format that flash exports movies in to be viewed in the flash player plugin.

I would try exporting from fireworks as a .png file
and then import this into flash and optimising it when you export the final flash movie.

The .swf is your flash extension, like gif & jpg is for images.

I dont use flash, but in swish you can optimise. I prefer to optimise before usingthe program.

i recomend anyobne to use swift optimizer for optimizing swf files. i was able to reduce site to any swf i ever seen. even when i downlaod flash from net i can optimize up to 20-100% and more with swift. i made a shorter flash with swish and it was 450KB. when i optimized it was 120KB! great tool and shows the easier programs is (swish etc) the biger code it makes.

hm..lol,here is idea - i'll optimize you swf for 20 cents each :) do you guys think this could be profitable biz?

Thanks everyone. So would it be true to state that exporting it as an swf would be the best option for optimising my movie or like benihana said export it as a png which it is at the moment and once my movie is finished then optimise? Even though i would have no idea how to do it that way.....but I'm working on it:)

No dude, export as PNG if youre going to use it in your flash movie. You can trace bitmap in flash and turn your logo into editable elements (if its simple looking enough).
