inserting flash movies into netscape 7 using web standards

i read somewhere that you cant insert flash movies inside netscape using xhtml that validates as embed is no longer part of the spec, is this still the case? i thought the latest browsers (ie6 net7) supported the object tag! comments would be helpful, thanks
