but the page the visitor clicked through to was removed some 6 months ago .... needless to say the visitor didn't bother looking any further on my site .... this kinda shows how crap AV is

Actually all this while I've got a good 400 + referalls from alta -ranking good for certain keywords since the good old days..--just to say their still quite ok if they matter.

If you get click through (more then just one) to an old page that has been removed. You could consider putting up a page with the same name, to leed the users ind to your site
