Does paying for submission boost my rank?

Hi, I have a pretty new site and submitted them to all the main engines. I am indexed in AV but unsatisfied with the ranking. If I pay the submission fees will my ranking greatly improve? thanks!

If the site is new to the index. you could wait to the next update and see if its getting better.My experiense with AV is it take some time mounths to get a good position so i should wait. Paid i dont have experiens for that never used it

Your ranking won't improve simply because you pay them. However if you do pay them you get guaranteed respidering, which will allow you a better opportunity to tweak your pages to their algo....

I've had good success in getting high rankings from the paid inclusion. Took me only two weeks to get to where I wanted to be. If you go the free route then you will have a long long wait to see if your tweaks help you.

It seems that with Altavista we should have the same approach as with Inktomi...

What happen after the expiration time?

Do Altavista will ban / penalize you? Or will you lose only the opportunity to tweak your site?

Not sure, for I haven't reached my expiration date. They will probably just leave your site as is and spider it whenever they please. I hope it's that way. But who knows, I'm pretty happy with it so I don't think I'll risk testing it out.

Pretty fair amount, but let's put it this way. One year ago for these same positions, I was getting about 2.5k - 3k hits per day. With the addition of sponsored listings, rotating results and lack of AV searchers, I'm pulling in 100-120 hits per day. But also, a very large chunk of this traffic is not from US-based searches. It is from many other countries using the world-wide search function in English.

Is it worth the price for me? Yes. I'd rather pay the inclusion price for these listings than pay Goto.com. I would be paying over 75x - 100x times the amount for Goto.com traffic from AV than their 6 month inclusion plan on one page. Probably even more considering the various keyword phrases I see that people are using. That fact right there speaks for itself in a big way. This is not to degrade Goto, because they list in other search engines as well. But if you don't want to pay up the a** for a top 3 listing then it's a much better route to go. Either that or you can wait 2+ months to see your pages updated, which I don't have the time for.

I still believe there are a lot of AV searchers out their waiting to be pulled in. If you had good traffic from AV under your targeted keywords in the past then you will still get traffic. Just a lot less ;)

Anyway, I'm not at all happy with them charging so much for their pay program but if it makes them do away with sponsored listings then I'm all for it. That's my opinion and if anyone has read my other posts they know that I will rip on AV just as much as I will support them.
