Strange that every time I go to altavista.com in IE 5.5 it redirects me to their uk site -only happening lately but with netscape it's ok -- any comments

Sounds like they are only cloaking for IE. I assume you are coming in from a European IP to get the redirect at all?

Nop I come from Asia - and why do they want to cloak their .com domain - i don't understand -if free please enlighten me.

They tailor results for specific countries. UK'ers get more UK results. etc.

FYI, comming from Denmark, Av.dk still pops up a "want to go to Av.dk?". No redirects.

I used to get redirected to the NZ AV due to my ISP being a NZ company. Noticed tonite they send me to the Aussie AV, at long last....
