Just checked, AV recent gets have not just been a data striping exercise.

One of my site's went from having 5 pages listed, which has been the only pages listed for the last 4 months. Too listing every page on the site, and the keyphrases targetted, the site is no.1.

What i have noticed with the site compared to competitors site, is theme's is the key.

Each of the pages carry a consistent theme with every other, and then specialise into the pages particular content matter.

I don't quite know what they have been doing at AV with their algo's, but i have to say i am surprised and impressed.

So theme's are AV, more so than any other engine, that i have noticed.

Has anybody else had such results or been dissapointed, with the latest update ?

caine, AV has dealt a blow. I had some small sites that did well, but no more. Have you noticed anything with site sizes in new results?

Well I`ve lost some bad words about AV over the last months, but today I was as surprised and impressed as you, caine.
I saw some good serps, higly relevant and with my pages on top :)
The only setback: While AV.com spidered and indexed my new pages, AV.de, german AV, has instead dropped even more. Now of my german pages 30% are accesible via AV.de, 70% via AV.com.
Also the new algo has not been applied to AV.de, serps over there are still a mess.

Marcia

The site that did well was only 94 pages, page sizes varying from 16K upto 60K.
Concurrent theme through all pages, meta's specifically targetted towards page content particulars.

Sorry to hear about the other sites, that did not do so well, are they large site's ?

Thanks, caine - very, very small sites. On one page, I had had the listing forever - though relatively worthless for traffic. The phrase appeared in the title, and only a couple of times in the text. I made a design change and removed a bit of text, including one occurrence. The other sites remaining for the search don't even show exact phrasing, so I'm clueless.

The pages I lost are still fine with Google (and a few others), so it's not worth making changes.

AV is rotating results...nice, eh? Rankings drop, then appear, then drop again. Apparently they feel that this is more relevant? Huh??

As far as their algo goes, I just got back from San Francisco from the Search Engine Strategies Conference and the rep from AV mentioned that they rank on traditional SEO techniques; title, description, links, relevance. While this is indeed some good news for "ethical" SEO's, I'm very disappointed in the rotaing rankings. Nonetheless, they are too busy trying to find additional ways to soak money out of people to submit; "Trusted Feed," Express Submit, etc...

Another little interesting note from the AV camp is that there is a good chance that they will be retreating from their reliance of link pop in the near future. Bact to something along the lines of vintage '97....

Look at their Trusted Feed program that is designed for sites that cannot be optimized easily. They will be included in AV's main DB based on their title, description, and keywords. It seems like those three factors will be the main items to use to get up the ladder like the old days.

I am finding AV useful in finding sites which link to us that Google haven't yet found. I then submit those sites to google.

We've got 104 links pointing to us in AV BUT we are not actually listed. Very Strange - anyone know why???

I,ve just been crawled again within the last three days, one thing i have noticed, is the rather great listings that promted me to start this thread, have now changed, with slides down the ranks.

AV just keeps on coming, something is definetly going on at the mothership
