Alta Vista Submission Pages

Q1. Updating my database the other day I went through all the Alta Vista sites checking details such as the Add-URL pages. The main US site is the only one that has the ransom note system. All the others seem to still have the old Add-URL pages, with the exception of Ireland who pass you back to the main US site.

Pages submitted via the US site stay buried for a month or two and then surface to the rightful position in the SERPs. I am wondering what the experience is of people submitting via the regional sites. Do the pages get in? Do they surface immediately or are they buried? etc???

Q2. Further to the ransom note system, is anyone else having problems getting the initial page to render correctly for submission. I have to reload the page a few times due to missing buttons or fields and the likes. Today I have to refresh 12 times before I could get a usable page. Anyone else having these problems? And is it simply a congestion problem at the AV servers, or perhaps their way of deterring all but the persistant die hards from submitting.

From a UK perspective the experience is not the same as at av.com. The European dB [and I think there is only one dB for the whole of Europe] is completely separate from the .com. Submissions tend to be spidered in full and listed with no penalty.

Exactly the same as you when using IE 5.5.

thanks NFFC.

so it would make sense to submit to the Europen database as well. Any one in particular?

Anyone have and similar experiences in other parts of the world?

I am using IE5.0

[uk.altavista.com...]

add url: [uk.altavista.com...]

(it looks like you are submitting to the whole Altavista search index, but it will submit you page only to the european DB)
