av.co.uk just isn't as smooth as it should be

Has anybody else noticed the poor performance of Altavista.co.uk today, I have had various messages displayed such as....no indexes available to search on....an invalid url message when I did a simple query using their search box, and when it did work it was dog slow, we have a T1 line here so when something is slower than normal it is easy to spot.

The US version appeared to be working fine ??

every time I go to AV at the moment I seem to be getting the "no indexes available message". It happens about a quarter of the time.
