Is anyone getting any new pages into AV without paying for it? We have submitted many new pages for our catalog as we just put out a new one late December but have not seen any of the pages added to AV yet. In fact, we don't have ONE listing for any of our sites for 2001 yet. Any ideas?

Hi jilly. Sprinkled reports of pages going in. I've had a few since the start of January, but not en-mass. Thats out of a few k-urls submitted.

Thanks, Brett. Time for me to catch up on all the latest. Looks like before I can AV will probably go pay-only. :(

I put in about 400 urls in the last month only one was listed. Normally I get atleast half listed each time.... This has become rediculous
when nothing will stick in there data base ....
I used other engines pay per submit and it works great but alta vista wants a bit much almost 200%
more then the others : (

Things are looking bleak in SE world

Yep, sites and pages going in. I think scooter's still doing the stuff.

Usual thing, first visit pops the home page in, then subsequent visits it picks up the other pages, although, I've noticed, it is taking longer to deep crawl and appear in the index.

Probably the sheer volume is the reason for slowing.

I submitted a page yesterday, and it appeared today!

Yes, I know this will be the result of an earlier crawl but I still nearly fell off me chair :)

sugarkane, I think they may have updated during the night last night, results have been switching. My page that was 11 was 6 this morning, when I refreshed it was 11 again, where it still is. Also, a brand new site just showed up (only the index page submitted).

Well I'm not sure AV updated at all. Looks to me like they are just flip-flopping databases again. We go from having 1 page in for certain domains back up to 90-100. Is anything stable any longer, or is this wave of things to come?

I think they might be flip-flopping as well... If I remember though, the last time they did this, it was to fix their algo and their index so hopefully the delay and problems everyone has been having lately will be fixed soon though... I hope they get their act together soon...

paying for submission note reminded me 1995 (a long time ago..:-))) when I actually bought the membership with Infoseek (a $100 US for the six month) to search their database for URLs ???? yes, as an end user...
Just a thought nothing more
