A.V submissions

Am still waiting for submissions to get in to A.V for the last three weeks. No luck yet.

I am concerned about what they call their new "patented duplicate elimination technology". My pages may not be sufficiently dissimilar and may not be getting in past this mystical "spam filter".

Any thoughts , you guys submitting and getting results?

Be careful. It is a doorway page identifier. Most modern doorway page generators (word scramblers) use an algo that is identifiable. If you are doing word scrambled doorways, make them dynamic/cloaked that prints some extra text to the page on each page load. I'd imagine something as simple as a ssi current time and date would suffice.

For other pages, AV will have to prove to me that they are any better at spotting dupes that Inktomi. Ink has the best dupe spotting routines anywhere - even if you just move words around, ink can spot it.

If you are doing other types of duplicate pages, make them with unique titles, metas, headings, footings, filenames, paths, and possibly rearrange the html. Spotting dupes is pretty difficult.

As they implement this 'dup technology' will they simply eliminate existing dups and keep just one page or will they ban the domain? If they are gonna ban the domain I could be in big trouble - I have a few dups floating out there from when I was a newbie to SEO and before I learned how to really do it.

Your guess...is as good as mine. I suppose it should make a difference if the dup is on the same domain as the other dup. Inktomi, just throws out the last dup it ran into.

I have created another "theme site" and would like to start submitting pages on Mon. Although my pages would appear different to engines on what you have mentioned above, I am still concerned. Brett would you mind having a look and giving me an appraisal (simple a -o.k or no go! would be cool). For obvious reasons, I have not posted the URL here.
