Trying to log on now to check the states and Position Tech's site is down (getting a 404).
Great!, whets even greater is that yahoo will not be using inktomi database to begin with plus some more major changes in the search engine world.
How can they charge money for service like that. I paid for a service which i'm not getting.
They must have known about all the major changes when i subscribed for their service 4 days ago. How come they did not bother to notify customers that their listing will just go down the drain and still offered the paid inclusion service with a "guaranty" label.
My site did not get spiderd by the promised (guaranteed) engines and there is no one to call now
No site to log on and a different search engines/database set up to begin with.
This is really making me SICK!

Max, maybe you haven't been listed, but what they forget to tell you in the advertising blurb is that is takes 7 days (sometimes up to 10) to be listed the first time. Then, and only then, do you get a 48 hour refresh. What they forget to tell you is that it is 48 hour AVERAGE, which means they can update your page every day for one week and then forget about you for a week! They guarantee to update you half of the days in the year, but which days will it be?
Fortunately, once you are in, the traffic is quite good (MSN mainly) and they try to refresh every two days, but this does not always happen.
My concerns however are that:
1) Position Tech's site is completely down. I cannot update my listing (their contract mentioned something like "you will be able to change the URL submitted as many times as you like during the 30 days invoice period". Forgetting to mention that they will go offline 3 days after you made payment. They did not even bother puting some explanation on their site or anything just a plain 404 - not found.
2) Yahoo dropping/not using the inktomi database (which is a fairly fresh announcement. I paid for inclusion hoping to get on yahoo via Inktomi. The hype on Position techs web site did mention yahoo among other engines.
This smells really bad. I do hope to see some traffic from MSN but doubt it very much.
Money is not an issue. Just wished there was a reliable paid inclusion which offers some (!) value and some return minus all the sour surprises. You pay for inclusion and you expect to get some visitors in return. We are just being pulled by the nose buy them engines with absolutely no value in most cases.
Max_mb - Positiontech are one of the most respected PFI resellers out there and a strong supporter of WebmasterWorld. They certainly haven't run off with your money!
We are all a little frustrated by not being able to log-in but I'm sure we'll be able to soon.

:-)
It looks like they're still getting it together. There's no clicks reported yet, though the new interface is quite cute. Maybe you need to wait an hour or so.
Yeah, they're definitely still working on it, 404s are occasionally popping up after logging in.

1) How about not mentioning the Yahoo/Inktomi switch
OR
2) That their site will go offline for upgrades 3 days after ones takes a subscription?
OR
3) Not even putting some sort message to notify their PAID CUSTOMERS!
I don't care about the money. I care about the bad business practice.

"Paid inclusion services from Position Technologies guarantee that the pages you submit are quickly included in Yahoo!, Alta Vista, AlltheWeb and other major portal partners. Position Technologies offers inclusion services that provide the broadest reach in the industry."

I wrote about this last night but it was deleted for some reason. You still cannot edit any of the url’s. Does anyone know if this will change? If not, I’m going to dispute the charges. I just paid for the service a few weeks ago. Without being able to switch pages, it’s essentially worthless.

Its like I said a month ago. These people show every sign of abandoning the old Inktomi PFI customers and running with the money. Inquire and they'll give you a run-a-round.
Max its to early to judge your situation. I agree it says 72 hour inclusion but its gotten to the point with most Internet companies I don't believe a thing they say until it happens.
I don't judge companies on the good times when everything is running ok. Its when people are having problems and how the company reacts to them is when I judge. I give PT a no buy rating now. Plus they've altered their site in the past few days and month so much its clear they want to held blameless for everything.
Position Tech is live and well. I can assure you we will continue to support each of the programs we've offered in the past and the future.
Jim
Position Tech is live and well. I can assure you we will continue to support each of the programs we've offered in the past and the future.
Jim, why are we still unable to login. Why isn't there any message on your site notifying your CUSTOMERS what to do next. Why isn't there a phone number to call or at least an address?
I would have been out of business virtually over night for treating my customers in such manner.
Position tech has allot of questions to answer for.
I'm sorry to say that regardless of your position. It doe's seem as a clear case of "take the money and run!".
First let me apologies for the Position Tech Subscriber's Area being down, I assure you it was not our intent to inconvenience our Subscribers. The Subscriber's Area is now operational. Over the next several days we will be making changes and improvements to the site but we do not expect any downtime.
Jim, What are you talking about? Your site is still down (404s and 500s all over the place)!
Unless there is a different URL to login to. It would have been nice if YOU COULD inform us of the new login URL (if such realy exist).
But who are we to ask for such information.
You would think that there would at least be some sort of notice on the website to existing customers. It's like the old inclusion program never existed.
I was able to log into my account this morning, however no urls where shown (we have submitted 20 since January). Now my password does not work.
