1. Is it OK for me to submit using the LookSmart Basic Submit to submit those pages on those other sites that are linking to me?
2. Should I be using different email addresses when doing so? (I don't want to incur any penalties.)
3. Also, if the answer to question 1 is yes, does the 5 pages per day apply when submitting pages in completely different domains?
Thanks for the assistance.
Sorry that I couldn't respond earlier.
Over 300 sites link to mine, but only 1 comes up when I do a link:www.**** enquiry on AltaVista.
About 280 of the sites that link to mine do so on pages that are based on a page that is in DMOZ. That DMOZ page is in AltaVista, but not the updated version which includes a link to my site. The same situation seems to apply to those pages that are derivatives of that DMOZ page. The balance of pages, i.e. not DMOZ based, that link to mine do not seem to be in AltaVista, or at least not the updated versions that include a link to my site.
So, should I just wait for pages that link to my site to be updated in AltaVista? The vast majority, if not all of them would not be pages that would normally be submitted to AltaVista, I would imagine. Does AltaVista crawl some directories / sites without people actually submitting them to AltaVista?
I am still unclear about the issues of whether or not it is somehow risky to submit someone else's pages to AltaVista, and if not, whether it is worth doing so.
