AltaVista

Who knows about SEO for that engine?

Since Esmerelda still seems to be unsettled, or at least not sending me near the traffic I was getting, I've seen Altavista climb to my top provider.

I am excluding the fact that both AOL and Yahoo results come from google. But Altavista is actually beating google.com this month.

My SERP analysis seems to indicate that their crawler does not like dynamic pages. Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks!

Overture bought AltaVista so for some keywords the top positions are sponsored links.

AV has a relative small database, and therefore not so many sub pages. Maybe that's the problem you encountered.

There is not that much info about AV at WebmasterWorld. Most of it is in the forum Paid Inclusion Engines and Topics [webmasterworld.com]. So to get in quickly you have to pay, but you can also submit 5 pages [addurl.altavista.com] per day for free in AltaVista. That last option will take some time (4 to 6 weeks). With enough links from other sites (especially ODP), you don't need to submit because AV will find your site automatically.
