Ineedhits.com - is it a good or bad idea to use?

I am considering using this service but not sure.

I found ineedhits.com and was wondering if it is worthwhile to use. I have heard some people say you should not allow a service similar to this submit for you. What is the downside to using this or similar services?

I actually went to check this site out and was greeted with a message:

Try the .net extension rather than .com

No, thats not it. I'm talking about the url in the title of this thread. Actually, better yet, check the Google cache for that domain and you will see the website.

I don't see anything other than their site. I checked it in IE6 and Opera 7.11

I double checked at an anonymous proxy in the states and I get the text message.

Have you tried to surf the site? Perhaps its cached at an ISP?

Tried surfing the site and all seems to work as it should except for one link to a sub-domain that doesn't work.

The Spider simulation of searchengineworld only picks up the spam message - there must have been a lot of complaints for it to be shut down

heard from ineedhits that they are going to be down for a a day while some server switch is underway. Not sure about the dns issues that came up. It was a planned change.

Then they must be VERY surprised, and probably a tad shirty, that a message was posted on their site (I'm assuming by their ISP) detailing a SPAM/ABUSE reason for downtime....

I think a bigger question is the validity of using any submission software or service. GG mentions that for Google, its better to be found, since that means that someone linked to you.

In terms of each engine, I assume that the same holds true, except for Yahoo where the money might be well spent, same with Looksmart. Beyond that, I just dont see the value of paying for submission for any engine. (especially since Google gets 80% of all searches, how much is it worth for the remaining 20%?)

I noticed, due to this "downtime" that the "submit a site" link on www.ask.com is broken, but amazingly, it has changed to a Positiontech link this morning :)

I would personally hold off on any submissions until they make a statement about all this. But hey, thats just me :)

Seems like a difficult one to answer.......I am still not too sure about it. I have heard people say yes, I am using it currently and no, I dont use it, but I still dont know if anyone that has actually used it has found it to be worthwhile. Anyone?
