When submiting my site Alta vista this is what I got. If this is the case then arn't all domain names redirects? index is simply the default html file.

We were unable to process your request due to the following errors:

<snip> is a redirect to <snip>/index.html, redirects are not allowed.

I haven't submitted a site there in a while, but that is interesting. Perhaps they have a problem with their add url function?

The thing is, that redirect would show the same content...so, they ought to be able to figure out that it's not actually a 'redirect' that you are submitting.

imho, try submitting the domain.com/index.html file - seems that would work fine (because the http header info will be 200 instead of 302 / or 301)

yea thats what i did. But i still thought it was weird. I wonder if maybe thats why my site has never been listed with them even though their spiders hit it all the time.
