About 14 days ago i submitted a new site to altavista using the free inclusion form. At 3th April the site was first time crawled. Until today, i logged 20 visits and 37 requests from altvista crawlers. However, the site is not yet listed. How long does the update cylcle usually take? Is there a cycle or is the update shedule more random?

The update cycle seems more random. It can take months for a new listing to appear (free crawl) although it might depend on how many inbound links you have too.

Expect it to take a few months.

Just a update in case somebody's interested:

The above mentioned site is now listed at altavista. It took about 6 weeks from first crawl until inclusion. Free submission, not a commercial site. Allthough it's a bit lame compared to google's "inclusion" speed but i'm happy that it finally worked. Position is as expected - not bad but a bit worse than at google - however, some things take some time. And the av positions are allready better than my positions i had at google within the first days / weeks of inclusion.

<added>The site has 25 back links since 4-5 weeks - 1 back link at the day of submission.</added>

The real question is - did the traffic follow? :)

Hey, sure! The site now receives at least 0,05% of its daily google traffic! ;)
