Is this altavista bot?
trek6.sv.av.com

It came to my site and had 11,300 hits with 170 MEGS of traffic. Also it says scooter has 11,300 hits. I thought scooter was Inktomi?

Can't answer your question about the bots, but you can get free AV inclusion at [addurl.altavista.com...]

Since almost nobody uses it it seems close to worthless, but you never know :)

Yes, AV takes pages for free. But I canīt remember the last time it caught pages via the AddURL, but only with help from links to your site. IMO you only have to wait to be picked up. (Though you wonīt get any traffic from AV...it might be a success to be in there.)

Altavista could bring you good traffic. At least Iīv found that they list my site high on some keywords other engines totally ignore. Altavista could also be useful if you target your audienjce for the UK (more used in UK than US - at least what I have understood).

Altavista is slow in indexing new pages :-(

I used the free add url and it took a few months, but it does work. It is slow to add pages, it's added a little over half my pages and the last time it added any was about 3 months ago.
