MSN/Ink now sends as much traffic as google!

I've had my site crawled by Inktomi several months ago. Just yesterday, the results appeared on MSN, and I'm now receiving as much free traffic from MSN as I am from Google (~1500 per day from each)

Anyone else had this experience?

No. Inktomi has crawled me fully (for free), and I do about as well in their serps as in Google's. But currently I get about 85% of my SE referrals fro Yahoogle, 10% from MSN (all Ink) and 5% from everyone else.

Yes, msn is sending a lot of traffic, and in some sites it beats Google

Get it right and INK traffic can be big. I average 25% from MSN/INK across the board. That amounts to many thousands of uniques per day - and the traffic converts into sales better than Google!

However Yahoo surfers also tend to be buyers - so that boosts the Google sales ratio - but that might all change soon!

Hmmm, just checked our stats for the past 10 days, and it appears to be "situation:normal".

Along the lines of Mohamed_E's stats, we're currently at:

Google - 68.87%
Yahoo - 17.33%
Microsoft Network - 9.05%

Yes, since the day after Christmas MSN has been climbing steadily. It now delivers 10% more traffic to me than Google and still stretching the gap. Increase in Google traffic, too. (MSN search vs. Google search - not counting Yahoo, AOl, etc.)

how do you guys generate 1500 visits a day without pay per click? I would gladly pay someone to get me that kind of traffic

Well for the first time in months MSN has now knocked G.co.uk into third place.

It's still got some way to go before it catches G.com but it's a nice relief to see some other SE's in the top other than G.com & .co.uk

Keep it up Ink :)

Brett, in that referrer count, do searches performed in Yahoo powered by Google count towards Googgle or Yahoo count?
And what about Aol/Google and Lycos/Fast not appearing in the count? Are they counted as Google and Alltheweb?

Gee Brett

0 clicks for Looksmall!

I'll bet you still get that wonderful email indicating you have used up your monthly quota, and scratch your head like many others.

Getting 1500 clicks per day for free from Google/MSN hasn't been easy. We've been developing this database-driven website for 2 1/2 years (launched a year ago) and spent a lot of time trying to figure this out (reading webmasterworld and the like...) We have someone doing bizdev and a bunch of smart guys trying to figure out how to maximize traffic.

I've got a friend in marketing at a large PR9 site who says he gets 500,000 clicks from google a month.

My stats only show the top 30 referrers every day. I've combined the various google, msn, yahoo and link stats.

2,049 56.8% Google

513 14% Yahoo

434 11.8% MSN

411 11.2% Links

109 2.98% AOL

49 1.35% Ask Jeeves

36 1% Bookmarks

29 .8% Netscape.com

21 .59% Altavista

19 .52% Dogpile
___
3,670

LookSmart, Wisenut, Teoma, Hot Bot, All the Web, Lycos and the meta search engines were not in the top 30 referers and each had between 0 and 19 referrals.

Hmm...that "Bookmarks" search engine looks like a good source of traffic, where might I find the URL, Liane?

;)

Liane, same question: Yahoo count refers to the directory alone, or google listings incorporated in Yahoo?

I just threw in the bookmarks thing so the stats wouldn't be off. :)

The Yahoo numbers are all hits from Yahoo. Directory and Google listings.
