New file formats in Inktomi

Now seeing pdf, doc and xls on partner sites

I see new file formats indexed at some Inktomi partner sites.

HotBot now has PDF, doc, and xls junk in SERPs. These files also show up at About, and some Overture-powered sites like Go.com. But nothing on MSN yet.

Try "big science" queries à la Gizmo Quiz, to see some.

<added>He he! I even see multi-meg goodies in .mdb format. Now try this with any browser! I wonder how Joe Surfer is going to use this. ;)</added>

The stuff from hotbot may just be their google syndication

Did you noticed the radio buttons on top of HotBot's search box?

Did you try several Ink partners not affiliated with Google?

Also, did you notice a little detail in all the tracking garbage Hot Bot puts in URL?

I see "&rsource=INK" in all of them.

No, this isn't from Google, Inktomi is now crawling several non-HTML file types. You can see the checkboxes on the PositionTech (Pure) version of Inktomi.
