Hello there,

This is my first post here, have been reading for quite some time now (and learned a lot!).
Now I am considering using Positiontech to get into Inktomi and FAST with a new Dutch site for short hotel breaks. This site is in Dutch language, what I am not sure about is whether costs would pay off for a site in non-English language.

Does anyone has experience with this or has insight in whether this would be an interesting option?

Thanks,

Brett_Tabke

The bottom line is: if you are targetting Europe, you need to be in Fast one way or another.

Hallo en welkom hier, ikke,

for all I know you can get into Inktomi and Fast for free if you are patient enough. (that worked for me).

Fast or its partners are non-existant for searches in Dutch.

MSN is a smaller player but probably important for consumer searches.

In case you are not aware of these sources:

[emerce.nl...]

[checkit.nl...]

[voelspriet.nl...]

I talked to a google rep at the pubconference and he boasted 60% of searches in the Netherlands.

I would say it could be important to get into a startpagina.nl daughter in your category.

The links above mention Google and Ilse sharing more than 70% of searches.

Thank you for your replies, bedankt.

Vitaplease,

It is indeed inmportant to get into more than one Startpagina daughter but as described on Voelspriet, Ilse has not updated it's daughter-database for 3 months. But it is still relatively easy to get into top20 on Ilse.

I also experienced that Inktomi and FAST crawled other sites for free, but I was considering the application for a new site and get results on short term. Does Positiontech provide stats regarding the position and click troughs?

yes, Referrals and Avg Position (Inktomi Pure Web Search, as far as I understand) statistics per day.
