Lycos Insite Select run by Positiontech?

new lycos insite select interface

I logged into my Lycos Insite account today and saw that they had graphically enhanced the account, where previously good old HTML links abounded.

Couldn't notice that the graphics that are being used in Lycos bear exactly the same names as those used by Positiontech so I wondered whether positiontech were now running the Lycos Insite Select programme.

Good assumption? Bad Assumption?

I personally have experienced problems with Insite locking me out for days and not letting me add pages to their index. Could this be a thing of the past?

Time will tell.

"I wondered whether positiontech were now running the Lycos Insite Select programme"

PositionTech isn't running the Insite Select program, they're competing with it. But yes, both PT and Lycos offer PFI for Ink & Fast.

Let's go ahead and scrap the last post I made :) (sorry for the misinformation)

I just found out that Position Tech did indeed take over the backend for the Lycos Insite service. They went live with the change late last night.

seth, wait a min., is findwhat owned by PT? the reason i ask is because i just signed up for a lycos insight account last week and it was a findwhat.com interface for sure.......course if PT owns findwhat that would explain it.

Fast did a press release today saying the advanced reporting features used by PT and Lycos are in fact Fast PartnerSite features. So perhaps this is why the new interface has partly the same features as the PT interface.
Fast PR [fast.no]

That crossover of Insite Select to PT might have explained the other thread about the Position Tech going down.

Who said migration was easy!

heini, i understand all that sorta, what i cant figure out is why findwhat collects the money and findwhat shows the clicks and money spent on my lycos insite account. is PT going to take that function over?

Jacon, I think the answer to your question is here:
[webmasterworld.com...]

The PPC program lycos.com has started is done in cooperation with Findwhat.

Lycos Insite is essentially Fast PartnerSite, a PFI program, offered via PT and Lycos.

heini, thanks, i think i understand now. they are 2 different products, insite select (fast) and insite adbuyer (findwhat). gee wiz, i wish these guys would think thru what they are doing BEFORE they rush them to market.

Heini, why would one want to go to Fast/Lycos for Insight PFI now that PT is running the back end for both programs? PT is running the show. I have to go to two different websites to get stats (as an original Insite subscriber I go to Alltheweb for Fast PFI and as a Ink PFI subscriber I go to PT).

This is a very confusing mess and resembles a house of cards. Will Fast and PT consolidate the puzzle? ... I really feel like I was a guinea pig for signing up with Insite too early.

"why would one want to go to Fast/Lycos for Insight PFI now that PT is running the back end for both programs?"

The differences that I see:

Customer support - Lyocs will continue to supply support for Insite, PT is just doing the backend (not sure if this is good or bad, I've never used Lycos for PFI).

Price - PT is $34 for the 1st url and $16 for 2-1000. Lycos is $35 for the 1st url and $15 for 4-1000.

>> Customer support - Lyocs

Hmmm ... anyone have experience to comment on with Lycos Customer Support for PFI? I don't.

Since the Lycos and PT front ends will be in competition, and PT will be running both back ends, which squeaky wheel will get the backend grease (don't take this too figuratively) ... a Lycos customer or a PFI customer?

Oh, and if I have a pain in the backend, and I am a Lycos PFI customer, must I contact Lycos or will PT take my inquiry directly, same as if I were a PT customer?
