Not just slightly jigged about, or even some filtering, but totally differnet results for at least the first 50 results.
Anyone else experienced this? any ideas why?
msn.co.uk seems to be fine.
Worse case, has been position 4 or so for months, now listed at position 85 as of today. None of the pages that were listed on the first SERPS page are any more, they are buried pages down.
It's the same for all my sites. Different subject matters, some linked to each other, some not.
Very worrying, will MSN revert to as before, when Inktomi re-spiders the paid for inclusion pages will they go back to where they were, I hope so.
I've chosen my bridge, just got to wait for low tide after the next refresh.
If Inktomi are in trouble, does anyone have any idea what the future holds. Are the likes of MSN likely to go elsewhere for the search results, or is that what has already happened, gulp.
Did the fault lie with Inktomi or MSN. With the rumours going around about Yahoo and Inktomi partnering, it made me think, if that happened, then would that mean it would be possible to appear on Yahoo within 48 hours using Inktomi paid inclusion, if so, I quite like the sound of that. I will admit to being a fan of the Inktomi 48 hour refresh.

But..... by 9.00 gmt the pages have slid back down again, well, most of them, but not all. Instead of going from around 4th to 189 as in the case of one page yesterday, it's dropped to 33rd. That's typical at the moment, they started where they had been for months, then dropped down about 30 positions but not as severe as yesterday.
Having said that, one page which was around position 7, is still at position 7 so hasn't been effected......yet.
It's almost as if it built the index as it used to be, then added a load more pages at the top, but not as many today as yesterday.
Can't get my head around what's going on.
I can go back to anticipating the google dance now.
Well Axacta, I really do hope it returns to the top for you soon. It's not nice seeing pages you've work hard at being pushed down the index.
