Inktomi - Now What?

What to do with new sites/pages.

Now that PFI doesn’t seem to be required (and may even be counter-productive), what are you guys doing with new pages for Inktomi? Where are you submitting (if anywhere), and do you see any new pages getting listed? If so, how long are they taking to be displayed?

1) I now avoid PFI.
2) I make sure that the pages are optimised
3) I get a few links

And then I wait. It can be a long wait but we get in the top 10 usually.

The wait is a bore but a good ranking tends to stay for a long time ;)

6 months for my sites. maybe longer. I've surmised that incoming links will reduce the total time.

No incoming links: no index.

At the risk of being 'controversial', if the site is important I always factor in the Ink PFI cost and submit the key pages.

So far, they are picked up and ranked within a week and if I want to tweak these pages for improved rankings I don't have to wait months to see the results and make further improvements.

It's still (just about) worth the money for some sites, but AOL was a bit loss.

The one size fits all PFI does not mesh with my business model ... Now I would be interested in buying a _deep_ spidering and no revists. Hint: Inktomi another $$$ stream!

So I create content, Link to the content, look for possible BOW sites to get a link from. And W A I T.

Thanks for the answers. I just need a “quick fix” here to catch up on my taxes. I never though I would say this; but I’m missing the Ink/aol/PFI model at the moment.
