More On InkTomi..

Inktomi needs to deal with the huge amount of potential customers that simply want their "website" spidered and indexed a few times a year.
For Example:
"Joe's VCR/DVD Sales Parts & service" (fictitious) website, consisting of a homepage, a couple of faq pages, & 9 other pages of item information, store location, ordering & service & Brand information ect....
He does OK w/Google, his internet orders are starting to become frequent, but...
How do all the "Joes" fit into Inktomi's plans? He isn't about to pay $39 + $25 x 15 to get his website in, it's just too much money.
He doesn't need or care about "48 hour refreshes", but he has a $50 bill in his pocket that he is itching to hand over to Inktomi, but not just to get 1 of his pages in......

Joe will just to have to wait, and he'll likely end up getting in. How he may rank is a different story. Inktomi has been adding pages that are not paid for, and neither are they in ODP, Looksmart or Yahoo, some of them.

Joe needs to find some sites that are established in the Inktomi database and get links to his site from those. Slurp will find him through those links and he'll be added as long as he meets their criteria.
