I've got several of the following in the logs

On the AV return page it says:
"New! Boost your site's traffic: Get listed in the AltaVista Directory" which takes you to a pitch for LS express.

Yep I'm starting to see more of this too. It just means they found you through the AV directory (which is powered by Looksmart).
