I just got a PositionTech email that said I could swap out a url with one from another domain. And that I can do this up until June 1st with URLs already in my account.

I thought that this option was removed back around December of last year. Did I miss something last year? Or am I reading today's email wrong?

Any customer that has previously paid to be listed in the LookSmart
directory will be automatically upgraded to the new product and given
$300 worth of free clicks provided they activate their account by
July 11th, 2002.

This notice from Position Tech is regarding the $25/yr INKTOMI pages not Looksmart.

Effective June 1, Search/Submit customers will have
the ability to swap URLs, regardless of domain, within the first
30 days of their subscription. After 30 days, subscribers will
only have the ability to swap URLs out for URLs within the same
root domain.

topr8,

Just to clarify, you have been swapping URLs that reside on different domains in your PositionTech account?

PositionTech must have delayed their limitation on doing this. The limitation now goes into effect on June 1st. It was supposed to go into effect last year.

Damn - wish I'd known about this sooner.

(Let's refer to LS by their name. Thanks. ~Marcia)

Yes ;) I've been swapping pages all along. This policy implementation will put a little twist in my knickers over a few doorway pages I've been shuffling.

Spam days gone :( June 1st.

keyplyr, this is about INK not LS, but if you're implying that URLs be switched from pages that are in INK and LS to sites that aren't in both, it sounds like there's a window of opportunity to do that with the indicated timeframe. It's actually not a bad idea at all, as long as they're using LS title and description with Inktomi paid pages.

The quote is from the PT newsletter, the topic that opened the thread and continues with information on the general climate of INK pages by identifying the major force of their policy change, i.e. L$. I guess I could have elborated a bit for those who did not receive/read the newsletter. Thanks for the heads-up Marcia.

keyplyr, I was trying to figure out the logic of why you brought that up. Seems like the timing is right, with the problems people have been having with the descriptions.

Can you still swap url's with I need hits, VeriSign and the other resellers?

Not bCentral, you can't swap even within the same domain, ever.

lazerzubb, it's the one at MSN. I "inherited" some pages for a site there that were paid for in the fall. But they're not on the current list you linked to. Hmmm...

Yes i saw the Submit It! cost of $49 i would guess they use an XML feed so you just enter the url and then they don't need anything else. Simple way for them to save bandwidht, and save support staff :)

They actually have online live support, who I griped to about not being able to make a change. It's more complicated than the others, you have to type in title and description and there's also submission to others - the usual automated submissions stuff.
