Hi,

Please can someone tell me how to optmize a page for AV. The pages I have rank ok in google don't realy do anything in AV.

Is having text on the very top of the page something to do with it ?

Thanks Paul

I trying to use good title and description and keyword rich header and alot of text.

The problem with AV is if you do two diffrent sites with the same technice one of them are not in the top 30 and the other one is in top 5. That feels confusing.

Maybe stcrim and seth have some good tips on this one

They also throw in the odd illogical result to confuse you.

I have a site ranked No.3 for a very competitive SEO phrase.

I wasn't trying hard for this phrase, I was targetting a different engine and less competetive phrase.

The page has hardly any link pop, I paid no attention to keyword density for the successful phrase and I haven't paid them a cent. The site has been up about 3 months.

In short, by all I know about SEO, it shouldn't be there.

Still, thanks for the traffic AV - bet it doesn't last more than a week or two:)

A fact that I *do* know is that the less a listing is "updated" by AV, the more solid it's ranking becomes (and, sometimes, it'll rank better.) Seniority seems to rule in this case - a good reason to use a cloak accompanied by a META "noindex".

Another thing I'm pretty sure of is that brand-spanking-new URLs accepted by AV get some kind of "king-for-a-day" treatment. I had a number 4 listing for a month - made no changes and then... "Plop! Were'd she go?"

You can deliver a META "noindex" page for AV while you deliver an "indexable" (???) page or pages for the other engines.

Submit to Yahoo! You will be listed in the top 10 within 12 hours of appearing on the Yahoo 'whats new' page if you know what you are doing ;)

email if you want to know the inside story :)
