Hi playachica,

Welcome to WmW. A very good place to start is the Open Directory Project ( www.dmoz.org ) A free directory wich a lot of search engines pick sites in.

The rest of search engines and directories are now mostly services you have to pay for nowadays. Try to find trade directories and portal related to the topic of you site. Some are still free.

Good luck!

OoOoo playachica my poor child, here come this way - look at all these threads on the board. Its all about getting from point a to point b without paying for it ;) Many search engines will allow you to submit them for free (: Others want you to pay to be listed. Google, DMOZ, Yahoo, MSN, AV, ViscaOnline, WiseNut, Northernlight, Fastalltheweb, Goo, Ah-ha, Hotbot(uk) lycos those are a few freebie submissions to start with ;)

Playachica, you can register with Inktomi for $39 for the first page for a year, and $25 for each extra page beyond the first. Review the 'pay for inclusion' forum here at WMW to learn how to get good rankings in the Inktomi partners before you submit to them. If you get good at it, you can probably have your registration fee covered in a month, then the traffic for the rest of the year is free.
