Inktomi doesn't seem to read Meta tags

Inktomi ignores my Meta Tags and lists my navbar

I have two paid listing with Inktomi.
I am beginning to think it was a big mistake.
All the other engines I have submitted to, free and paid, pay attention to the Meta Tags. Inktomi doesn't. The end result is that my listing, that is showing up in a zillion places, is of my contact information and navbar. I emailed them to ask about it and what should I do to redesign the page, and they ignored the questions.

This is the second year I've subscribed to their (positiontech) paid listings. During this last year they've lost a few and aquired a few accounts that use thier data base, but up until now I thought it a terrific deal.

Then shortly after I renewed, I noticed my title and description gone from several "partners" SERPs. A shortened version of my site title (now in lower case) with my URL underneath was all that was being used at AOL, SearchAOL and others.

When I emailed them (positiontech), they did reply a few days later saying that because I recently changed my "home page" that my info was in the process of being updated. What?

A week later, nothing had changed so I wrote again. This time they replied with a 2 year old screen shot of HotBot showing my full listing - LOL - and some retoric about them not being responsible for how often their partners update their data base from Inktomi.

Talk about side-stepping.

INK seems to be in a state of flux...not real sure where it's headed.

Title and Description. Really all it comes down too. I've used INK for quite awhile, not huge traffic but it's great for keywords that aren't too competitive.

Refresh every 48 hours. Hah!
I took the extra step of turning my contact info a graphic that could not be read.
Inktomi and then Overture and then ... still lists the old contact info.

Russ, while the database may be refreshed every 48 hours, the individual partners update according to their own schedules. That part is under their individual control, as well as there being slight differences in how the data is handled. I've found that MSN is usually the quickest of them to reflect changes to pages.

Best way to check refreshes is the Pure Search:

Marcia,
Thanks. I discovered something very interesting. I submitted only two pages to Positiontech for inclusion in the Inktomi database. Those two pages have been refreshed with the correct info; however, the index page has not been refreshed. I never submitted it to begin with--it was just spidered. Should I add the index page to the paid list or will it refresh soon as a result of spiders following links. And do they replace the old info or just add onto to it.

Russ

Don’t put the index page into the paid system for some reason the index page won't rank, I tried to find the posting for you as we discussed it here sometime ago.
