so i've seen the ink slurp/cat spider now for 7 visits, and nothing's in the index yet...

what, exactly, did i pay for?

anyone else seeing these slow FIRST inclusions?

Yes - it is slow from time to time. The expectation of 48 hours is just not realistic. When anyone asks I always say be happy if you are in in less than 10 days - and they usually are.

Perhaps it is just luck, but after submitting late in the day Monday, I am [happily] in this morning.

I have found the PositionTechs reporting lags.
Pages can be founded in the Ink index well before they are reported as Included/Refreshed in the Page Listing Information report.

Seems like they are slow more times than not. I guess they are under staffed with all those layoffs?

To be honest, I've seen updates within a few days, but those are older stuff. So then it's only with NEW inclusions then?

I have found that new pages get indexed into the pure Inktomi results within 2-3 days. However, the partner engines do not recognize these pages until about 4 days after Inktomi accepts the pages.

I just had one get into the index in under 72 hours, not bad.

john316, is that how long it took to show up at their partner sites? From what I've seen they show up at MSN first.

I'll go alone with Marcia, MSN is normally the first place I see my pages, which is nice as it's my biggest ink referrer

update and clarification:

first off, the listings that i'm waiting on to go live are not actually "new" listings, but rather "changed" listings... back before the price change we bought a bulk of listings, and i didnt get around to re-assigning them until the first week of January.

so anyway, here we are, going into the 3rd week and STILL NO UPDATES, although the PT site (and our logs) show regular spidering.

what gives? anyone else seen this phenomenon? literally, its been almost 2 weeks since the change with NOTHING going live....

Yes - I have seen just what you are talking about. We have a small bank of experimental pages and when we switch a URL it can take two plus weeks to move - even though it shows on PT.

I think it show on PT becasue they have done their part - It's INK that hasn't.

I posted and submitted to Ink last week and I still have not seen any results. The pages usually show up over the weekend, but this round I have not seen anything. Not even in the top 100. Has anyone else seen this.

3 weeks and counting now. still no pages and no traffic, just slurp-cat visiting every day...

we're talking about, like, >100 pages too.
where's my ROI?

come on INK, get your act together!

Try testing a three word keyword combo.
I.E. Green Duck Soup
Put the Keyword in the title and in first words of the title on a page without any scripts images etc . .
Bold, Green Duck Soup with a size=3
Put one hundred whatever words in between as body copy.
Then repeat Bold, Green Duck Soup with a size=3.
If that doesn't show up . . somethings up

Oh . . and put the keyword in the description and keywords meta

seaboy - I think now would be a good time to email support at the place where you purchased the pages - though one of those places that also happens to sell domain names has never been kind enough to answer any of my emails.

Or better yet get someone on the phone...

just an update:
i finally got around to contacting PT and their response was pretty much, "hmm, well we're not really sure. we've heard similar complaints from other folks...everything seems to be fine from here. it must be something on ink's side."

so it seems to confirm stcrim's assertion that it's ink's problem - not PTs. but it also makes you wonder what "customer service" PT is providing, if that's the best answer they can give...

i've got a bunch of URLs floating in limbo. that's money i've paid, for which i am getting ZERO results - not even a damn inclusion - just wasted bandwith from the daily Slurp visits.

i have friends telling me they're experiencing similar problems from indexconnect. ink really needs to get their sh*t together. its very frustrating - we're PAID customers now, for god's sakes.

sorry for the rant, but i think its quite justified. i am not approx 45 days in since my URL changes with *no* inclusion in the database.

anyone else experiencing similar problems?

I'm not having any problems I switch a page with a new one last week, within 5 days it was pulling in the traffic
