PT traffic and keyword reports

How meaningful are they?

I've been trying to compare PT stats and keyword reports with Extreme tracking stats and keyword reports on my website. Basically, there is pretty much no comparison at all, not even close, not even in the ballpark.

Could someone explain where the PT stats come from and how accurate (or inaccurate) they really are. Does PT just miss some hits or does it mistake someone elses website hits for mine, or are their stats fabricated by some analysis algorithm.

I'm clueless. Any help will be appreciated.

I'm not sure but I am guessing the the keyword is the keyword used to find the site regardless of the engine where it was found. The "average rank" is the average spot it occupied in the pure Ink database during the time period.

Just one interpretation of the stats.

It does say that stats thing is in beta and covers less than half the traffic the pages actually get from Inktomi. Probably shouldn't expect them to line up with much of anything at this point.

Way back whem I used Extreme tracking - I now use a wonderful program that will be available to the public very soon. The program I am using and my PT stats match leading me to believe PT is accurate.

Though it has been several years since I used Extreme - it wasn't very accurate back then...

I don't think any stats are 100% but I'd put my money on PT over Extreme anyday.

And when the program I am beta testing is available - I'll let ya know...

PT does not report on all Ink's partner sites. I could, but have not taken the time to find out which ones they are reporting.

However looking at my logs, weeding out the duplicate hits, I have come to the conclusion that PT report shows about 75% of the hits.
