I followed your tips for Inktomi but still I don't show up at least on first 3 pages. This is a non-competitive keyword. I am sharpening my SEO skills for my friend's web site and feel Inktomi is important for his site.

Any idea what I might be doing wrong? This is a 4 month old web site. Do you think that might be an issue?

Jag. What exactly did you do to the page.

Basically I followed advice from Toolman with little changes:
Toolman suggests:
My rule of thumb is keyword twice in title, twice to three times in meta desc and multiple times in meta keywords.
Then use a short, super high density phrase or two complete with h1's and bold text.

There must be something else to rank high becuase I rank very poor for not so competitive keyword. But that keyword is important for me becuase it's a product name. Do you think it's link popularity? I have links in ODP, Yahoo and Looksmart and some other sites. But these numbers are less than 10.

Did you pay for the page to be included in the paid db???

I only said that 2 days ago.

Yes, I paid for one URL to a company called Position Tech.

Toolman...I guess you advised similar trick couple of days ago. I followed from there. Thanks for your help.

If that doesn't work then keep the high density part on the page and put the keyword once in the title, meta desc and meta keywords and go from there.

Inktomi has been a little slow in the inclusion process the last week.

I had a page take several days to show up in the partners sites even though position tech showed it was "included".

I would wait a day or two before making any changes.

old pages are refreshing just fine but new submits may not be... ditto to what minnapple said...

I have noticed the same thing. One of my usaual pages takes about 3 or 4 days to really show results and this last week it took 6 days for the listings to show. As the others already said wait for a couple of days and then rework the pages. If you have to rework them use the keyword in the meta title, description and keyword. I generally use fairly heavy keyword density about 8 percent or so. Make the keywords on the page text links and have them go through out the page so you dont have to buy as many ink listings. Hope this helps.
