Getting a foot in the door...

Is getting an effective free inclusion still a possibility?

Since Canada.com no longer appear to allow direct submissions (I believe Anzwers may turn to paid inclusion over the coming months) is it still possible to get into the Inktomi d/b via a backdoor and be ranked well?

I haven't gotten a new site listed free since April... Has anyone else had better luck?

In a word "NO" I think ink should be looked at as GOTO without ranking. Ink continues to spider the web, but not for the purpose of including your site or mine in a "search results db". I would love to know why they use the resources when they have no intention of using/publishing the results...

BTW - I've not seen the goo spider around for a while - probably a couple of months.

Just had the goo spider drop by one site and pull a few dozen pages. Guess he's still alive.

At hotbot.lycos.nl, which is Inktomi only as far as I know, dates are shown with the results.

Although most new listings are paid for (check by comparing url to msn.com listing) , many are not.

Combined with my own experience this past month I have to say free inclusion is still possible.

>BIll-Submit to goo

There are two boxes, the first is for your URL, what is the second for?

Hi gunleather welcome to WebmasterWorld,

The second box is for the email address [view source].

yes, goo is still grabbing. I've been ignored by hotbot submits.

I submitted 2 urls to goo yesterday (button on left is submit--btw)

just got hit by them -- 16 hours later

goo311.inktomi.com - 202.212.5.32 - Mozilla/3.0 (Slurp/si; slurp@inktomi.com;

goo317.inktomi.com - 202.212.5.38 - Mozilla/3.0 (Slurp/cat; slurp@inktomi.com;

------------
if they actually index, we shall see

NFFC is correct. The top box is for your site URL. The bottom box is for your e-mail address. The first button (on the left) submits your information, and the second (on the right) clears the form.
