The importance of inktomi, seems obvious. However do each of the search engines that use inktomi's searching facilities have completely different aggrements with them.

I'm doing well on MSN, with my new sight, however Iwon is still holding onto old links from 5 years ago. Inktomi's indexing for looksmart, seems to have missed my sight altogethter for pages, though i used the pay method and the site does well, as a singular, however none of my pages.

Does any one know a sure fire way of getting all of my dead links out of inktomi and getting all my new links in so they show on all that use their page indexing facilities

the inktomi paid program is only for the page you submit,so by the sounds of things you've submitted the index page ? if that's the case that's the only one that will get indexed using this method and the inktomi spider will not look at the other pages.

Yes, i used the looksmart partners pay method.
I've submitted a few pages to canada.com, hotbot and anzwers.com.au, though at present i am not seeing any indication that inktomi is updating. Though from my unix/analog analysizer i could see that many of inktomi's crawlers had been to the site, could it be just a sit and wait situation?

The crawls were about two weeks ago.

If you’re looking to get into inktomi through the free route using canada.com, hotbot and anzwers.com.au, you could have very long wait, if ever.

I've as good as given up trying to get anything into ink using the free submission

I am certainly feeling frustrated about Inktomi !
I have a limited budget, what would you suggest is the best pay method of getting into inktomi, and updating my dead links that already exist in the indices.

>frustrated & Inktomi

:) they go hand in hand, just read some of the old postings

If you want in, it's either network or PT, I use PT with good results, normally within 48hrs you should see your site on the various partners assuming of course you get your algo correct but have a look around the inktomi page as I think there's some general tips www.inktomi.com/products/search/submit.html.
The dead links will drop in time, but why are they dead?

A question about inktomi PT option.

Looked at the pricing and the description of how to add a url.

Does the url that you add relate to the site - hence you add one url for one site or does it mean add one url per page, as my site has 80+ pages of rich content, developed and well targeted meta tags and titles - though this is becoming a lot more expensive.

it's one URL per page. so try optimsing a page or doorway for inktomi, if you get that to rank well then you could submit as many of your 80 pages as your budget will allow.

so in theroy it won't take you too long before you're getting pages in at $12

Cheers Tigger

I will hold back for a couple of more weeks. But if no show from inktomi then i will use the PT and probably a site map developed purely for Inktomi.
