I know that AOL gets is info from Inktomi. My question is does AOL get its listings from Inktomi solely or does AOL have another source. Thanks in advance.

AOL definitely uses ODP and Inktomi, but that doesn't seem to be the whole story. There have been several threads here about the mysteries of AOL Search -- but no cut and dried answers, I'm afraid.

This one [webmasterworld.com] is a good place to start. If this conversation whets your appetite, you can find more by using the "site search" function up at the top of this page.

Tedster thank you for your response. I was wondering are there any other threads on this matter that I can read.

This was the first thread I remember where forumites started comparing notes on AOL ranking.

AOL also uses goto.

And, if you are getting a piece of that GOTO traffic, you know it is very good. (To qualify: we have 5,000 KWs bid on in GOTO and the ones that fall in the top 3 slots deliver extremely good traffic from the AOL partnership...

With caution, it's worth investigating
