What does this tell us about the INK algo ?

Try this search [hotbot.lycos.com] on hotbot and look at #3. Does this tell us anything about the INK algo ?

Seems to me that the actual content on the page is now largely irrelevant and that incoming link text is the major factor.

Two things:

1. Is this an Inktomi algorithm issue? Or the one HotBot applies?

2. While the title and description are for something called "Gooch Computer Services" the actual page content is indeed about dogs and dog competition.

So it looks to me like the opposite is true, and the content has been taken into account but somehow the title and description on HotBot have remained what they used to be.

I know that's not an answer by any means, just more input.

The results seem to be consistent across all of INKs partners.

The dog site in question is one of mine and somehow the INK spider has picked up this other site instead. I am reasonably sure that the content of the page as well as the title and descripion are also taken from this other site.

If this is true then the only place that the words "dog breeders" occur are on incoming link text and not on the page at all. This would seem to indicate that the link text is extremely important.

Of course the real question that needs to be answered is how did the spider get the wrong page ?

Mark,
you might check to see if your ISP has you on a shared IP. I've heard of cases where similar things have happened when several sites are sharing the same IP#.
