Who has put a new page or new site into Inktomi in the last six months that actually stuck around more than a couple of weeks?

What was the ranking on the page under any quality kw's?

I will confess we have submitted thousands quality new pages for clients over the last six months, and only a handful have made their way to the top page over the last six months. Our old stuff sticks like glue. We've had about three dozen pages ranked top three for three years - rarely do they move out of the top ten for long.

Brett, unbelievable, I know, only one page - the home page of a site I submitted three times since it dropped out twice before. It is the only site i'll resubmit, if required.
It seems to be holding steady for a month now. Phew!

Tigger, check out this page [inktomi.com] for partners:

OR, if you would like a different list published by Ink, try this [inktomi.com] one.

Um, not sure if the link worked...kinda new in town.

Brett,

We started targeting a new keyword about 2 months ago, and produced a few websites that all revolved around 4 or 5 related keywords...I must add that these keywords are not very competitive, insofar that it doesn't seem to be targeted by SEO's or people who know much about SE marketing. There is competition but by people who are not ver SEO savvy.
These sites made it into the index within 2 weeks...In a month most of them achieved top rankings, and they have stuck.
On the 14th I submitted 2 of these sites and a doorpage through Position Technology...Not only did the doorpage, which is new, get listed...It is also in the top 10 of hotbot, AOL and freeserve...MSN doesn't seem to have updated...however, in MSN, the 2 sites that we paid for are number 3 and 5, so they definitely got a boost...they used to be ranked lower...
It's only been a month and a half so it's hard to say...but so far, not only have they stuck but they're also ranking very high.
I'll keep you posted.

Update.
Standard add url submission.
The page/site i mentioned earlier appears to have made it into a stable db. I'm also delighted to see it's sitting at position 6. Quite satisfactory.

The rest of the site has not yet been spidered.

I tried resubmitting a friends site which I wrote (but obviously did not design) and which had been picked up and dropped by Inktomi a couple of times. I resubmitted about a month ago (I think) to Canada.com "only" and left the other SE's alone.

At that time, the site was doing fairly well but was not on any INK sites . These are the current rankings for her most important (targeted) key word phrase. She is getting some traffic and sales, so things are looking up!

AOL #2
Alta Vista #1
Canada.com #2
Direct Hit - Not listed
DMOZ #1
Excite - Not Listed
4 Anything - Not listed
Fast #3, 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8
Google #1 & 2
GoTo - Not Listed
Go.com #1
Hot Bot #12
LookSmart - Not Listed
Lycos #3, 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8
Magellan - Not listed
MSN #2
Netscape #1
Northern Light - Not listed
Raging #2
NBCI #1
Webcrawler - Not Listed
Yahoo #1

I have been pretty busy on another project and haven't taken the time to check her rankings lately, but it looks as though she may have her foot in the door on at least some of the Inktomi partner sites.

Should I resubmit to the sites that have still not picked up her site or is that pushing things?

Brett:

I'd have to say that none of our new sites have been added, and if they were they were so low we never found them in searches. :( The sites we do have are still buried including our paid submission. Just out of curiosity, are they still updating the listings every 48 hours for paid customers? The date on my listing shows 11/16/2000 that's a little over 48 hours.

Jill,
I think the date on your listing refers to the last time you updated your page, not the last time it was spidered. The date on my listings is 24th Nov - I didn't buy the indexing until the 27th, but I last updated the pages on the 24th.

SugerKane:

Thanks, but our page that is listed that I'm referring to is updated on a regular basis, approximately every 4 days. We are tweaking the pages to get a higher listing, so the date should reflect that.

*sigh*

I have been holding out because I feel guilty. The sites I am working on have been doing *very* well in Inktomi. In fact, that is the only database that my site is consistantly being doing top 10 since the end of May. I started submitting in April.

Is it because I work for a big company's site known the world over? I have been wondering this whole time if there is some sort of bias to large companies. I honestly don't know, but I am thankful.

I'm pleased to say, the site that was in, then out, then in, then out... well you know.

It's been stable in the db for many weeks. Glad to see some stability and, some good rankings too. :)

Brett,

INK picked up about 30 pages without us submitting and ranking like the stuff in the old db but nothing else. And I don't really have a reason for those pages being picked up and not others.

We are trying to figure uot if it just happen or there is a reason for it as I type.

Inktomi spiders tend to pound me but only leaves me with a bruise. I don't have a clue what they are up to. They just pounded me again this morning. [sarcastic]Yay!!![/sarcastic]
Anyone with the same results?

I've had inktomi spiders all over our site, but after the last update, we disappeared in the rankings... We even show up on the second page of results when searching for *our own company name*

Up until the most recent update, we were showing up consistenly on the first or second page of results for targeted key phrases... but at least the site hasn't been completely dropped, right? :P

We are in ink, only the two paid pages in the current showing database, but many more in the main database. Only problem is we are now buried so deep we'll never be found. :(

Are there a new set of rules for getting listed better? I admit I've been ill and out of the loop for about 2 months. Any info to help out would be most appreciated. Are we looking at link popularity, keyword counts, what?

TIA

hmm...just wanted to check on something, and this thread seemed appropriate:

anybody having luck getting new pages into the db? In the last month? Without paying, I mean...still not wanting to fork out the cash.

Cheers,

Well, I haven't gotten any new pages in, but this week they started showing new results for our company name. Our index page is now listed with its newest title, etc., and seems to be ranking much better (ranks have improved on two keyword phrases, and tanked on two others)... but ALL the other pages in our site have disappeared! Win one, lose 20+ *sigh*
