As you know one of GoDaddy.com's superbowl commercial is rejected by FOX .Here is the link to view it! ...

GoDaddy rejects [godaddy.com]

All i can say is what a tasteless ad!...

ROI from an $2.4 million superbowl commercial for a internet domain register is a whole other discussion :)

I wasn't surprised to see godaddy use that technique, though I was a little surprised that fox aired it. <snip>

It was a funny, if totally juvenile, ad. Tasteless, etc. Not the kind of thing that would make me look at that company as a source of professional services.

I like to think there are people in other countries who value modesty, decency and morality even in the little things. The little things add up. Call me a puritan or whatever but I don't think these types of things are beneficial for love, peace and happiness and in fact are a detriment to society.

"I don't think these types of things are beneficial for love, peace and happiness and in fact are a detriment to society."

And which parts of modern disposable profit driven commercial consumer culture exactly would you pick as being positive for these types of values? When you find any, let me know.

I read in a print paper this morning (sorry, no link ;) ) that GoDaddy's traffic was up 378% on monday. Guess they got their bang for their buck.

It also noted that the ad was supposed to be run twice during the SuperBowl, but that after the first airing, the NFL complained and the second slot was dropped without notifying GoDaddy.

As a result, GoDaddy is contemplating sueing Fox, who has yet to offer a refund for the conceled ad spot.

If they do sue, the publicity surrounding the attendant circus will be a huge boon to GoDaddy.

I think we all know the one thought going through the heads of the execs at GoDaddy right now:

"Cha-ching!"

[money.cnn.com...]

The number of visitors to GoDaddy.com, a privately-held reseller of Internet domain names, shot up nearly 400 percent after its first-quarter commercial aired, according to technology research firm comScore Networks. The company had 140,000 visitors Feb. 6, compared to a normal Sunday rate of about 30,000.

On Monday, amid news reports that Fox, the Super Bowl broadcaster, had yanked a second planned commercial after National Football League officials complained, traffic rose more than 250 percent above normal levels. GoDaddy.com typically gets 160,000 visitors on any given Monday. Yesterday it drew 590,000 visitors

Yup their traffic was up but i bet 99% of that new visitors just came to see the commercial video! ...If one has to just base raw traffic as ROI creteria i can produce double those uniques in 1/100th of the superbowl ad price! ...any takers? :)

As I work a lot with PR you see these kind of commercials a lot both in Europe and in the US. The reason for rejecting a commercial like this is mainly because the product doesn't correspond to the ad.

I've seen similar commercials being pulled in Europe too so it isn't typically american.

I remember a commercial Master Card shot for the priceless campaign, which was very indecent, actually I think it was shot for a good laugh. It was never aired, which you quickly understand when you watch it.

Unfourtantly my memory is like that of a turtoise so I don't remember the ad's name or any URL for the commercial.

Another thing which crossed my mind is that I actually host my sites at Godaddy, I wished that money for superbowl commercials could have gone to improvements of their website control panel, which is hard to navigate.
