given the size of DVD ..why do you want one?

DVD with one of the more expensive (for now ) burners with let you burn 9 GIGs on one disc ( not counting "flip over" dics ) ..

It is not physically possible for a standard home-use CDRW laser to burn holes in a CDR small enough to get 1GB of data on a CD. If you need something larger (with a smaller laser) you can get it, but they are DVD's, which of course means updating your CDRW to a DVD-RW. But if you need more space, you need more space...
And France has never exactly been ahead of the pack for consumables either in evailability or price ...
There are plenty of sites on the german internet and usa who sell these too ...
These premium grade 99 minute capacity CD's will work as 80 minute discs on any modern CD writer, and together with specific software and hardware, can go all the way to 99 minutes.
And:
Some CD Writers will not work as expected when you set maximum CD length to 99 minutes.
So, you need to check with the manufacturer of the CDR drive, plus possible download software to enable these to be used. Apparently, many CDR drives will not write to more than 89:59 minutes, a full 9 minutes short of the capacity of the disc. So be careful before you order these.
Somewhere or other amongst the mess of stuff I've got on this machine I think I've got a txt file all about cd and dvd issues ...when /if I canput my hands on it I'll post the link ..
(anyone know of a free program that I could install that can find things that I can't remember the name of ...the whatsit that came with 'doze is useless unless I remember pretty much exactly what I'm looking for )
