Hi

This is driving me mad...

When I work at the office in my home I like to have a movie running in a small window at the edge of the screen somewhere.

I recently bought a hp Pavilion t272d.

When I watch either the cable t.v. or a DVD (using Windows Multimedia) at some random point the PC will freeze and all work is lost. The keyboard doesn't respond at all and I end up having to hold in the power button until the PC re-boots itself. Obviously any programming I've been doing and haven't saved is lost.

I'm running WinXP home. I have downloaded all the M$ updates available.

Any ideas?

All the best

Mick

Try new video card drivers directly from the video card manufacturer.

I'm sure its the RAM of your PC - not enough for watching a video as well as doing work on your PC.
A lot of memory is required to watch a video, but if its a movie, double that. The file size can go upto 500MB or even more, and so, if you start typing while your watching it, it could react slowly.

Either buy a new hd or watch those in your spare time, ask your boss for 10 minute breaks after 10 minutes of work ;)

Thanks for the replies guys.

Drastic:> That's what I initially thought so I've downloaded every driver that I can find.

Sidyadav:> Memory could have something to do with it. I'm working in VB6, but I also usually have InterDev running as well as email, browsers and Query Analyser. I have 512Mb of memory, I'll look into upgrading that.

Thanks

Mick
