Hello. I have a sony vaio and I am trying to connect my Playstation 2 to it. I have seen this done in the stores and even called them, but the person I spoke with couldnt tell me how it was done. Does anyone know how to do this? I would greatly appreciate any help.

Thanks!

You take the little plug thingy and insert where it says. ;)

Why would you want to do that? No TV?

You will need a video card that accepts rca video or svideo as an input. Dont even know if it is possible.

You'll need to buy an adapter. You either have component (3 rca plugs) or composite (1 rca plug) video.

Search for component (or composite) to vga adapter.

(It probably won't be cheap.)

I have a video card that will allow me to do that. i have three rca jacks in the front and three in the back as well. I have it hooked up to the front but cant figure out how to get it to come up on the screen. Not sure which program to use. I have a sony vaio RZ44g. I called the good folks at sony for assistance and they told me they dont specialize in this, so I am pretty much on my own. Thanks for all your help and happy new year!

Just incase anyone else was wondering and as a followup to Drastics post...

I bought an analog-to-VGA box a while ago, wonderful little devices although you're in for a little shock if you're expecting the same type of graphics that you get off PC games running at higher resolution.

AFAIK prices ranged from £20 for those little Redant/XRGB-2. boxes through to £100 to £200 for more sophisticated hardware with support for higher resolutions, there is professional grade gear out there too if that's your bag. The cheaper end of the market seems to be the one that's most heavily featured in the SERPs.

If you want to go down the "separate device" route my advice is;

If you want to get one I suggest doing a lot of research on possible purchases so that you know what exactly you're getting and what existing users think of it - cheaper doesn't always mean the best.

Also worth noting that it's worth investing in some good cables to go between the PS2 and the VGA box because a lot of the time the standard cables are going to lose some image quality.
