The nice thing about this particular 2-foot blizzard here in New England is that the temperature has warmed up 20 degrees. It's still below freezing, mind you, but now it's at least tolerable.

Everything's fine now, we just don't have enough snow. They're cancelling dog mushing and snowmobile races right and left. There are sections of major rivers that aren't frozen over! It's chaos. hehe.
This winter is approaching the ones I left behind in Rochester, NY - there I suffered through 450 inches of snow . . .
Just a little hyperbole there, Tedster?
Yes, it's a snowy city (I grew up shoveling walks not far from there), but a little bit in its defense. . .
The average annual snowfall in Rochester, over the past 75 years, is about 100 inches.
The annual snowfall record for 1884 to the present (set in 1959-60) is 161.7 inches.
And, one thing you can't deny, is that the area is better equipped to handle it than the coast (e.g., it takes a lot more to close the schools!)
450 inches?! I think you'd only get that in a few ski resorts in the Rockies and Northwest.
it takes a lot more to close the schools!
Yeah - I'm all for that. That snow should have come up here to Vermont. 24" of fresh powder would be welome!
lorax: I was up there last weekend. My family has a camp in Washington/Chelsea. We got pizza at Village Pizza at City Center in Montpeilier. -15 degrees at the camp (75 inside with woodstove full on).
Was nice to get away from web, phone, for a few days, even if it was wicked chill in VT.
